ECU TUNES
Reflashing the factory ECU can increase the power and reliability of your RX8.
While you won't see a huge increase without adding forced induction, with the right mods installed we've seen RX8s equipped with the 6 port engine make up to around 210 - 220hp to the wheels with a tune, intake and full exhaust setup.

(Keep in mind: Mazda's claim of 232hp that's floating around the internet is recorded at the crank on a 6 port motor.)​​​​
PRESET TUNES
We offer preset tunes that we have designed to work with a wide range of setups.
​
Our Stage 1 tune is for a stock RX8.
Our Stage 2 tune is for RX8s with just an aftermarket intake and muffler.
Our Stage 3 tune is for RX8s with an aftermarket intake, full aftermarket exhaust system and LS style (D585) aftermarket coils.

All our preset tunes are designed to give you a nice bump in power and receive the reliability benefits we mentioned.

We achieve this by:
-Adjusting intake valve timing (VDI on 4 port engines, APV and VDI on 6 port) (Stage 1,2,3)
-Adjusting Air/Fuel Ratios (Stage 1,2,3)
-Adjusting Ignition Timing (Stage 3 only)
-Adjusting cooling fan switch-on temps (Stage 1,2,3)
-Adjusting Cold Start rev limiter (Stage 1,2,3)
-Adjusting OMP Injection rate (Stage 1,2,3)
-Adjusting ignition dwell times for D585 style coils (Stage 3 only)
-Increasing RPM rev limiter (Stage 2,3 only. Increase differs for each stage)
-Adjusting Open/Closed loop limits (Stage 1,2,3)
-Adjusting Idle RPM (We set to a nice and stable 1000rpm) (Stage 1,2,3)
-Removal of the 180kph JDM speed limiter (Stage 1,2,3)
-Calibration of MAF Sensor (Stage 2,3 only)
-Adjustment to Volumetric Efficiency table (Stage 2,3 only)

These tunes can be flashed in person by us OR can be sent to you remotely and flashed with your own copy of Versatuner and a compatible OBDII cable. ​​
CUSTOM TUNING
A custom tune for your vehicle is the best way to take advantage of your unique setup. Preferably you would need to come to us for a road tuning session* where we measure performance and datalog various inputs on a flat stretch of road using Virtual Dyno. We can also offer remote tuning sessions for RX8 owners outside of New Zealand, where you perform some data logging runs we make a tune based on the results and modifications. This method will also require you to own your own personal copy of Versatuner and a compatible OBDII cable. ​​

*Road tuning may leave some power on the table compared to dyno tuning as we don't have access to the same safeguards that dyno tuning can provide. However in the near 3 years we have been reflashing RX8 ECUs, we have never had an engine failure and nothing but great feedback about how our tunes perform.
